Horology Heritage

At the dawn of the new millenium the company started to think about the revival of a horology icon from decades in deep sleep – the STRELA watch. There were various true gems to our STRELA collection we were eager to revive! By the end of 1999 plans were laid to reissue a few popular STRELA models from the past. Our plan was simple: supply our customers with the beautiful classic STRELA design, blended with the most admired contemporary Russian watch movement there is – the 3133. The one and only on our mind to produce this thing was the 1st Moscow Watch Factory. Soon we started to gather ideas and looked very close on our vintage originals. Later a few of them along with drawings and our ideas were brought to Moscow. Our Moscow partners were thrilled about the idea and soon started to convert these ideas into chronographs driven by 3133 movement. That was the beginning of the reborn STRELA watch.

A Setback & Comeback

A few years later the great 1st Moscow Watch Factory (1MWF/1МЧЗ/POLJOT) was struggling and lost the battle against internal and external economical difficulties. A factory with decades of watch making history and hundreds of workers sadly went into full production stop. A real loss. However, a big division of the staff and machinery for the production line of 31 cal. movements was acquired by the Moscow watch factory MakTime. Since then MakTime became a new production partner, the factory does not only assemble complete watches for us, it supplies us with the reliable mechanical cal. 31 movements for models we assemble in our Munich atelier – the place where the STRELA rebirth idea was originally contrived. Nevertheless, all our STRELA models are driven by the same genuine Russian mechanical hearts, once developed by POLJOT.

The Mission

We are working hard to improve things that are not perfect. This is a process that will not stop! Even we all know perfection is almost impossible to reach. For you and for us, we try to achieve this anyhow. This is a positive challenge and important part of our mission. As a still relatively small manufacturer we do not develop fancy and expensive movements or extravagant cases along with almost unreadable dials. We strive after something else: to supply you with a real value, unique horological heritage, good readable and of course some gorgeous looking mechanical chronographs for an unbeatable price. That’s it!

The Future

Today, globalized markets and huge conglomerate companies make it seriously hard to survive and succeed for an independant watch company or a watch movement producer. Especially in Russia, and of course when we talk about mechanical movements here! The know-how and steps in the production of movements are very demanding and capital-intensive. There are countless wealthy Russian entrepreneurs who could invest into that precious heritage with a flick of thier finger. Maintaining a watch plant on the long range and investing into the development of new movements would require such a flick. A flick too big for us, but we try our best to support the Russian watch industry. The main thing we can do, is to stay true to STRELA’s origin and only use russian movements. At the moment we are progressing in the development of new models and later we will have a look at polishing our classics in the long range. We are proud and eager to design, test and inspect, and then finally roll them out on your wrists. In doing so, we always keep in mind to stay close to the original DNA of the historical ancestor, the СТРЕЛА. It’s not about mutation, it’s all about evolution. And if you want, you can help us to prevail.
