Alexey Leonov, the Spacewalker. On his wrist: A STRELA
On March 18th 1965 Alexey Leonov became the first man to walk in space. In 1975, in the middle of the Cold War, leonov would captain the Soyouz 19 which would encounter the American spaceship Apollo. A diplomat gifted with a good sense of humour was needed for this mission. He has, definitively, become a hero of space adventure. There was nothing to indicate that this child of a poor peasant family become an astronaut. He spent 7 days, 33 minutes and 33 seconds in space. Leonov is a film character, a man who is a total actor in his own life, in a rigid and regulated world. (Source: les films de la castagne from vimeo)
On his wrist during this legendary EVA (Extra-vehicular activity) was a STRELA. There are discussions about the model. Leonov himself stated in an interview he can´t remember what model he took with him, he only remembered that it was a STRELA.
